Behind the Hillman is a 1957 Chevrolet. There's another '57 Chevy in front of the embassy, as well as a 1959 Ford.

It Moved

The Embassy has relocated a few miles south on the other side of the Thames, but the building has been repurposed (complete with the eagle) as a luxury hotel, the Chancery Rosewood. Room prices start at $1850. I could not find any photographs of the hotel with a Cadillac out front.

Wrong side

Sixty years ago my parents took us to England, where they took delivery of a new car -- a Rover 2000 TC with left-side steering that would be shipped to the U.S. at the end of our trip. We drove around the south and southwest of England quite a bit. Mom and Dad caused some serious and obvious consternation from opposing drivers when Mom (in the front passenger seat, where the steering wheel "should" have been) unfolded the road map, completely blocking the front window.

Interesting registration number.

Yankee Eagle

I like the way the mid-century modernism of the building is offset by the classic, old-school eagle.

One of them foreign jobs --

I spy a Hillman aft the Caddy.
