Pioneering streetcar line

That Virginia Electric Power trolley seen here represents the first successful electric streetcar line in the U.S., engineered by Frank Sprague, who went on to develop multiple-unit control from a single electric car, which made the NYC subway possible.

And in a bit of Shorpy kismet, his Sprague Electric Company factory is now MassMOCA in North Adams, Mass. -- but to the left of your panorama.

Some survived

The two buildings after O.H. Berry's are still there.

O.H Berry is gone, sadly

Others remain
