... left his ladder on the sidewalk. That's probably him sitting in a window, over on the left side. Atop the building on the photograph left, are what? Almost looks like a bucking horse, there are two of them. Very interesting photograph, thanks, Dave.
[You're welcome. Those horses belong to the Wayne County Building. - Dave]
"Hello, room service? I'd like a club sandwich, a cup of coffee, and a pair of B78-13 tires, please"
... all those fantastic Impressionist landscapes that blind the windows of the Family Theatre?
[Mr. Ivory. That's soap. - Dave]
I wonder if some hot-shot adman got a bonus for that slogan.
The Family Theatre opened in 1909 in the Kirkwood Hotel building (with the Palace of Gems next door). Originally advertising vaudeville with motion pictures, it showed films for more than six decades. At first, the Family name was kept when it started showing adult films in the 1960s, though eventually it became the Follies Theatre.
On July 6, 1973, the theatre was destroyed by fire -- which broke out during a showing of "Deep Throat" to 30-40 patrons. The Detroit Free Press featured a front-page article about the conflagration, along with a previously purchased ad for showings of "Deep Throat" at the Follies.
Anyone know where I can get some good tires? Not great tires, but good tires?
